Let's go apartment hunting! š 4 Philly Luxury Apartment Tours
Hey guys, it's Joi here, and I am so excited because we are going apartment shopping today. Honestly, my whole channel is about to turn into some apartment shopping decorating hacks adulting. So make sure you're subscribed for the journey.
I decided that I had a lease that was ending in Los Angeles. And I wanted to continue to live my best life and have an apartment. I want to have a space that I love can be productive while working from home. Also, I'll be able to see my boyfriend as much as I want because we have been in a long distance relationship for three years. So we decided that we were going to the apartment shop and what city do you ask?
Philadelphia!
So I'm going to be showing you 4 places that we toured in Philadelphia and one of those places I ended up picking.
Apartment A
So the first place I visited was apartment A, and it was very nice. The building had excellent reviews, so I was super excited to visit. However, when we got there, the leasing agent told us that she rented out the one-bedrooms that she planned to show us. So she couldn't show us any of the one-bedrooms. I was confused because I was like girl, I literally told you I was flying into Philly to see the one-bedroom apartment, and you have nothing to show me.
But, she did show us around the building. She did show us a studio apartment. So the studio apartment was nice and had good amenities. And you know, I had no problem with how it looked because it was updated. And it gave me a good idea for one bedroom. The place had an awesome outdoor space like a cool outdoor space with cool city views. The building also had a gym, so that was a plus. It has some of those amenities and an outdoor area you can work in.
However, the apartment gave me weird vibes based on the security guard and the leasing agent. They were very awkward and didn't feel very welcoming. When you were walking around, it was surrounded by the industrial part of the city. Because it was raining, so it was hard to get a feel for everything. But it was a contender because it was within the budget. So I was kind of like alright getting the sense of the first place in Philly. Still, I wanted to see more after getting kind of weird vibes from the leasing agent. Also, knowing that I could not get work done other than the outdoor space was a downside.
Apartment B
This place was in a massive new building. The lobby was impressive. Everyone who worked there was friendly and welcoming. The lobby and just first floor had so much space, including an indoor and outdoor working space, different TVs, games, places to have parties. And not to mention the units were spotless and bright. We viewed a couple of other units in this building to get a feel for the different floor plans.
They had so many different floor plans, which was kind of overwhelming. But it gave us a feel because the prices range we saw was like $1,700 to over $2,000 for the rent. I was confused because this place was a lot more affordable than the other luxury buildings.
There was a lot of construction going on, not just like in the area but also inside the building. They're adding a whole new section of the building, which meant that most of the apartments had a view or construction sounds. So this was very disappointing because nothing on their website kind of said that construction was going on. There was nothing that the leasing agent said about construction while I was on the phone with him, so I thought that that was very misleading.
However, we did get to see a unit that didn't face construction. It was nice. The leasing agent threw in some excellent deals he proposed, such as a month free rent, no pet fees, and no amenity fees. He offered in so much stuff to sweeten the pot. And oh my gosh, it was so this one was a top contender.
Apartment C
The final location was loft-style. Oh my god. Apartment C, like when I saw this one on apartments.com, I wanted this one so bad because it is the most bomb loft that I've ever seen. It was kind of busy on a quiet little street, but I had quiet streets branching off it, which was cool. As I came in, it was clean. But, it had no front desk or security. It was just like you know you use your key fob and then go to your unit.
They said it had about 40 units in there. Once we got to the building, we got to see two different lofts. A 1 bedroom loft, obviously the bedrooms just on the upstairs part, but oh my gosh, they were beautiful. They had beautiful wood detailing on the stairs and a great kitchen. It just seemed so cozy and homey.
One of the lofts had a half bathroom downstairs so that your guests can use the bathroom and don't have to be in your bathroom. I thought it was A-1, and the closet space here had a huge downstairs closet in a big clothing closet. Girl, I was ready to move in that day.
However, this place was maybe $100 over budget, but I was like I will pay to live here. I will pay an extra hundred dollars to live here because it was just that amazing. The cons to this place, however, was there were no amenities. There's a rooftop, and there was a small like Peleton room that had like four bikes there. There was no real gym, no security, and no spaces to get work done other than the roof with a few furniture pieces. It was still nice, had amazing views. If I were to go over budget, I would say no to so many amenities.
Okay, so those are the 3 units that I've visited. I hope that you guys are excited. Let me know below which unit you would have chosen.
