Girl Talk! Periods, Hair Removal, Feminine Hygiene + Confidence #OhMyFirst
Hey guys, it's Joi here, and today we're getting a little bit personal and talking all things feminine hygiene periods, hair removal, and confidence. Today's conversation is sponsored by OMV! by Vagisil. I'm super excited to do my very first girl talk on the blog.
Storytime: My 1st Period
Let's go way back to the first time I got my period. So when I first got my period, I was 12. I was at home, thank goodness, babysitting my younger cousin, who is a boy. And I just started feeling kind of weird. I felt feeling like sick, like out under the weather. And I went to the bathroom and well and behold, stain underwear.
I knew what was happening because I had read some books for young girls about puberty and growing up. So I knew what it was. But I was like, Oh, so we're starting. We're starting this today. So I immediately call my mom. I was like, hey, I think I'd need pads. She was oh my god, like, yeah, I'll bring him home. And then that was the beginning of it all.
OMV! By Vagisil All-Day Fresh Wash
To stay fresh and clean during my last cycle, I used the all-day fresh wash throughout the process. It's gynecologists tested, and it has some captivating ingredients like aloe leaf extract. The product is also pH balanced, so I knew that you know it would be gentle for me.
My routine includes using a pump of the wash when I take a shower at night. I only use it in my intimate areas but never going inside the vaginal canal, just making sure I use it only externally.
It did make a difference in how fresh I felt. It helped me feel more confident during my cycle. I think this is a game-changer. The scent is not overpowering, and it does not smell like chemicals. It just gives you that little boost of confidence that you want during your menstrual cycle.
Quick Tip : The other big tip I have for when you're on your menstrual cycle is to kind of have an emergency kit full. Include everything you like to go to when you're on your cycle, whether that's your favorite snacks to eat, a PMS tea, or some pain relievers to help with cramps. You can even have a list of movies or activities you want to do to make you feel better and encourage you throughout your cycle.

Let's talk about hair removal because I felt like this was something I had no idea about when I was going into purity. One day, my sister was like, "girl, you need to shave," and I was like, I do shave my armpits, and she was like," no." The other area, and it was like, "Oh, okay." There are also other methods than just regular shaving. There's waxing, sugaring, laser hair removal, like the list, goes on, and on and on. That's totally up to you. I'm not one to inflict pain on myself.
Methods like waxing and sugaring can be quite painful on your intimate areas. So as of now, I still prefer shaving with a razor. To make sure it comes out as smooth as possible with no razor bumps, use a fresh razor. Never reuse a reusable razor on your intimate areas because after that first use will dull the razor.
Quick Tip : My second piece of advice is to use some shaving cream or oil to shave your intimate area. One of the biggest problems that I have with choosing to shave is when your hair starts growing back. It an uncomfortable, itchy new growth that's so annoying. That interval between the fresh shave and when the hair starts growing back in.
So I opted for using the OVM by Vagisil, so bikini anti-itch serum, um, I shaved for the last few times, and this was perfect. It has a soothing gel-like consistency that applies well to external areas where you've shaved around your bikini line. The serum soothes and helps with that transition for the new growth. It's because of the colloidal oatmeal, vitamin, chamomile, castor oil it has in it. I really enjoyed the serum. Also, you can use this if you're a very active person. If you have a lot of friction going on in that area due to running activities, this product is excellent. So, keep this in your gym bag or your home workout bag because this can come in handy for those types of situations.
