My top 5 favorite ways to live a greener lifestyle
This blog post is sponsored by KARMA dog food.
I am a strong believer that small efforts to better the environment can add up to big results. Here are my top favorite ways to live a greener lifestyle ths year. I hope this gives you some inspiration on how to change a few things in your day-to-day lifestyle to help improve your sustainability practices!
Plant-first KARMA Dog Food
KARMA is a plant-first dog food, made with real chicken and white fish that I have been feeding my Shih-Tzu Louie this summer. KARMA dog food packaging is recyclable through a partnership with TerraCycle, and another bonus is that it’s crafted at a site committed to zero waste to landfill. The KARMA brand believes everyone, including our pups, can play a role in creating a more sustainable world. Shop their dog food here: https://karmapetfoods.com/
Buying local groceries and produce
Next time you are looking for groceries try out a local farmer's market or look for locally grown produce at your local grocery store. I find that local farmers often have better growing practices and their produce is much fresher and tastes better since it’s local.
Thrift shopping
One of the most fun ways to live a greener lifestyle is by going thrift shopping. I find when I go thrift shopping I'm able to find vintage and super quality pieces that I wouldn't have found otherwise from a fast-fashion brand. I like to follow other thrift stores on Instagram to get inspiration on how to turn a seemingly ugly piece into something beautiful and cute.
Saving energy at home
When I was looking for an apartment, I was trying to find something that had really large windows to let in natural light. This is because during the day, I almost never have to turn on the lights and save tons of electricity. Another way I save energy at home is by hang drying my clothes after they get out of the washer.
Walking instead of driving
One fun fact about me is that I actually do not have a car. One way that I love to live a more sustainable lifestyle is by choosing walking over driving. If I have small errands to run I will incorporate my dog and take him for a walk while I check some things off my to-do list. I currently live in a city where walking is super feasible and when it isn't I can often take public transportation or rideshare. You can also consider things like biking around town.
