2 WEEK OLD MINI TWISTS | PROTECTIVE STYLE TAKEDOWN ON NATURAL HAIR
How To Properly Take Down Twists
Step 1
Start the takedown with some oil.
Why you ask?
When you're taking down any type of protective style, you want to make sure you put something on your hair. Either use a leave in water and oil or a leave-in conditioner. It helps your hair become more manageable and make the takedown process easier. It also gives your hair some much needed moisture after being in the protective style.
Step 2
Be GENTLE
My twists weren't really small, so they the takedown was pretty easy. But when you do get to a tangle, you want to make sure you go slow. You don't want to rip out any of your hair because that would literally defeat the purpose of being a protective style.
Step 3
Double Check
Make sure that you get every single twist, it's easy to skip a twist. You do not want to go in the shower with a twist and go try to detangle only to find out you still have twists in your hair. So really double check that you are getting all the twists out.
Step 4
Cleanse the Hair
Apple cider vinegar rinses are your friend. Just combine water with a little bit of apple cider vinegar and apply it to your scalp to get rid of any buildup you may have had.
Step 5
Quench the thirst
Deep condition your hair after taking it out of twist. Here is a link to post that goes into depth.
Step 6
Maintain! Maintain! Maintain!
Apply oil to your scalp every day and on the on the twist. Using a like the one from my kit to moisturize your twist so they wonβt get dry while you have them in.
